The Lovebugs: Seeing Stars debuted with a reception featuring mocktails infused with cannabis spray on Friday evening at Blooming Hearts Studio in Beacon, NY. Guests were treated to a surprise performance by Adventure, a rising indie musician, in an art salon-style setting. The celebration continued Saturday with an intimate, cannabis-infused dinner by Chef Tito Dudley. Starting November 23, 2024, the artwork will be on display at LotusWorks Wellness Gallery in Beacon, located at 261 Main St, Beacon, NY 12508, through January.
In Seeing Stars, Amelia navigates the intensity of a transformative relationship, expressing the energy and emotional complexity it evoked. This collection features deconstructed cartoons, photos, sketches, and paintings, blending raw imagery with precise, satirical text.
The show critiques stereotypes about women’s self-expression—particularly through provocative photos and open sexuality—while confronting the double standards imposed by society. It further examines these ideas through the lens of Amelia’s identity as a mixed-race Black woman, offering a nuanced perspective on how environments shape perception and experience.
Adventure, an indie rock band led by Antony DiGiacomo, delivered a private acoustic performance featuring unreleased tracks as part of an unofficial, ongoing collaboration with Amelia C. Williams and The Lovebugs.
