01012023 Moodboard

As I've kicked off the year with a 31 days of art challenge, I decided to use day 4 to create my January moodboard. It helps set a tone for the work I want to create for this month and an overarching theme for the year. That said, I plan to create a moodboard for each month, to stay creative, focused and to keep the art flowing.

This moodboard is all about my resolution for the year: Freedom of expression!! A large part of my goal for 2023 is to bring back my favorite parts of me that only felt like they could exist in Los Angeles. When I moved back to Upstate New York I felt the conservative parts of it take over. Sexuality is so loud in Los Angeles, it was hard to ever think of a place that wasn't so open to it. Living in the country I sometimes feel like I can't dress or express the way I did in LA, which is almost all of who I am. I've always expressed myself through clothing and fashion and putting together looks, when I feel I have to censor myself and I have to quiet my inhibitions, my skin starts to feel tight.

They always say youth is wasted on the young, and my mom has always said "If you got it, flaunt it, because you won't have it forever." And I don't think she even meant that in an ageist manner; sure one day I may not feel as confident, but no matter what, we're all going to the same place in the end. So why not show our favorite parts of ourselves while we're here for this precious, and insanely short time.

So that's what this is all about. I'm dressing without judgement, creating art without censorship, and I'm remembering my favorite parts of me and revealing them with no fear. Metaphorically and literally. In short: get ready for a lot of tits and ass in 2023 ;)
